The Imagine Guild of Children's Hospital and Regional
Medical Center raised a record $561,000 during the
Children’s Ride 10 Anniversary Weekend June 24 through
June 26.
The three-day event kicked-off at the Bellevue Hyatt
Regency for the first annual Children’s Ride Gala and
Auction on Friday, June 24. The highlight of the evening
was the sale of a Paul Yaffe Original motorcycle built
and donated by world renowned custom bike builder Paul
Yaffe. A packed crowd was on its feet, loudly cheering a
friendly bidding war as Seattle Mariners icon Edgar
Martinez and former Seattle Seahawk Chad Eaton went head
to head, trying to outbid each other for the
one-of-a-kind custom chopper. The motorcycle set a new
record for the sale of an item at a Children's Hospital
auction when Mr. Martinez bid $95,000.
On Sunday, June 26 more than 1,650 motorcycles
participated in the annual Children’s Ride. Motorcycle
legends Paul Yaffe, Arlen Ness and Tim Edmondson led the
pack from Qwest Field to Pacific Raceways. Ride
participants enjoyed the All Harley Drag Racing
Association Pacific Nationals, a gourmet BBQ and a
motorcycle show.
Proceeds from the Children’s Ride 10 Anniversary Weekend
benefit uncompensated care and diabetes research at
Children's Hospital and Regional Medical Center.
