Wanna own Paul's 06 Discovery Bike?
Paul’s latest creation
built for The Discovery Channels “Great Biker Build
Off” is nothing short of incredible! This truly
one-off creation demonstrates just how truly versatile
Paul’s style can be! This project has opened the door
on a completely new direction for Paul and his
seemingly endless design capabilities. Paul calls this
style “NEWSTALGIC”! Mid century styling coupled with
the latest drivetrain and engineering available.
Just in case you missed the latest installment of The
Biker Build Off, (the original air date was October
9th) Paul had 10 days to create this amazing chopper
and ride it to The Sturgis Rally in South Dakota to
compete against famed Boston motorcycle painter Dave
Perewitz. Paul says the ride to Sturgis was amazing
and the bike performed flawlessly!
Once the bike returned to Phoenix it was returned to
show room condition and prepared to be Paul’s
“feature” bike on The Easyrider Centerfold Tour for
2007. Paul was invited to be the headliner on this
years tour which covers 16 states and runs through
May. Upwards of 300,000 fans will pour through these
shows and have a chance to meet Paul and see his
latest creation first hand. A poster and T-shirt
commemorating this fantastic custom are distributed
along the show circuit. The bike has been shot for
Easyrider Magazine as well as the largest European
magazine “Freeway” and is scheduled to be featured in
the 2nd half of the 2007 year. In short, Paul’s latest
vision is destined to be one of his most famous, and
will
most certainly continue to captivate all who lay their
eye’s on her!
OK, now let’s talk turkey. Suzy-Q as Paul likes to
call her is based on a one-off 4” up / 1” out DOM
seamless tubing rigid chassis designed specifically
for this project. The engine is a hybrid version of
Harley Davidsons spectacular Twin Cam B. Jim’s machine
reworked the mill to 120 cubic inches while still
maintaining all the reliability the motor company is
know for! We’re talking close to 125 horsepower! Of
course Paul had to throw his two cents into the motor
and added PYO logo’s to the heads as well as some very
unique cooling ports and a terrific “Piston” air
filter. All that power runs through a Baker close
ration 6 speed transmission which makes the bike great
to run out on the highway. Paul wanted this bike to
handle as nimble as it looks so he chose a Metzler 210
rear tire wrapped around a Black Bike hand built spoke
wheel 17 x 7. Everything on this bike had to
create a commotion so Paul’s entire crew spent the
time allotted for the build creating original
components front to back! From the hand turned fork
legs, the stability minded tweak bar and the
incredible headlight that was created from a front
belt pulley to the unique crossover exhaust, perfectly
placed mid controls, nothing like this bike has ever
been seen. The sheetmetal is hand hammered and
perfectly compliments the stance of the chassis. Paul
even created a one-of a kind 2” belt drive unit that
has to be seen to be believed! Gary Crisp created a
original “Butterscotch” color for the bike and then
perfectly complimented the raised steel graphics with
subtle pinstriping in two colors of grey that set off
all the brushed finishes. Duanne Ballard finished the
project with a hand tooled seat that sports Paul Yaffe
Originals on top and commemorates the Build of the
bike and the competition that it was designed for
underneath. All in all this bike is certainly one of
the finest that Paul has ever created and is sure to
go down in history as a landmark build for Paul and
his talented crew!
There’s only one of these... One of One...
Once the bike has completed it’s tour in May 2007 it
will return to the PYO studio for any needed
restoration and delivered to it’s new owner in perfect
condition with a one year warranty.
